New Day, New Jeep

Well you see I am trying......Kaitlin came home yesterday, on the Greyhound, oh my goodness, that bus depot is an adventure....holy! The sights that you see....anyways onwards... A busy day today, Kait and her father hit the car lots early today in hopes of securing a vehicle. She had some ideas in mind and well sometimes things actually work out the way you think. So after test driving a few different types of cars and SUV's, they found one that would work. I think she is very pleased, I know I would be. It is a black beauty.

So now she has a vehicle that is reliable and safe to drive, it's new and will not
need new parts every time you turn around. So mission accomplished.

By the look on her face, I think she is very happy with her purchase.

Tomorrow, I am taking all my planters and pots out to Van Rhodes Nursery to be planted up. I painted them today as it had been awhile and they needed sprucing up. Next year I will have to find some new ones and toss these ones in the garbage. They don't make them to last, plastic breaks down after a few years. I am hoping to run on Sunday with Trish, so I really hope she is feeling better. Well besides what I have told you I also did laundry and baked "many" dozens of cookies and a banana loaf. Most of it will go back with Kait. Well that's it that's all. Last day of the month, hard to believe it is May 1st. tomorrow. Well I hope you had a great day. Happy Birthday Gigi! I hope you had a really nice day!

Boy Am I Late!

Boy am I late! I cannot believe that more than a week has gone by. I think I must have been soooooooooo busy I passed myself! As you can tell I feel just like the White Rabbit. I haven't been sitting around twiddling my thumbs, I have been trying to knit up all the wool I have stashed. Believe me "no" small feat!

The thing is......the weekend flew by with the girls making their way into Bangkok and then Kait flying home and Jane carrying on to Railay, I was a little preoccupied. Daniel also called from training wanting a book that nearly blew my mind wondering why? But being the "wonderful" mother that I try to be, I tracked it down at Books & Co, and mailed it off to him and he should have gotten it this week but then he was out on the range all week so he may not get it until the weekend. Kait is coming home tonight in about an hour, to collect her things and hopefully find a vehicle to drive. But realistically finding a car/track on such short notice....I don't think so. But her and dad will go look around and see what they can find.

Trish and I ran our longest distance in a while last Sunday, 9km and as tiring as it was and she was getting sick, it wasn't too bad. Monday, we went back to the pool and Tuesday she was done for, so I stayed home and ran on my treadmill and did some weights. Wednesday, Susan and I did a small run 6km just to see how it would feel and I was fine, so the trick is not every day, not fast, and not far.....now the challenge will be to keep that thought.

So I will try to catch up, the weather has been mediocre and not conducive to yard work and that's a good thing, I only have time for knitting at the moment! I am hoping Trish is feeling better on Sunday so we can do the river trails again. Good night! Have a good evening.....

Sunrises and Sweaters

Well I don't want you to think I have been doing nothing all week. Monday, we hit the pool and endured 45 minutes of water running. But before getting to the pool, I was driving along Foothills and noticed the sun coming up and thought to myself I bet it's beautiful on top of the University Hill, so with a quick turn to the right, I headed up the hill and none too soon, as it was just about over by the time I got turned around and parked. You could just tell it was going to be a beautiful day. So I grabbed a couple of photos, unfortunately I only had my pocket camera but you get the idea. A gorgeous day was just waking up.

It turned out that Monday and Tuesday were both blue blazer days! Unbelievably sunny for April with temperatures in the 20's C. Tuesday morning Trish and I met up and this was going to be my test run. Well we/I squeaked out 5km and 30 minutes without any ill effects. Thank goodness! Do you have any idea how stir crazy I am going not being able to run? It's not pretty! Today we swam and did the kick board, not pleasant I can tell you. After Trish's kickboxing Tuesday night, the last thing her legs wanted to do was the kickboard! Tomorrow we will water run and try the actually running again on Friday.

Now back to the crafting, this was a project I started a few months ago and thought since I was in "knitting mode" I may as well finish this little one I started. I love the colors and it would be a perfect little pullover for the fall, matched with a brown pair of cords and a mustard colored turtle neck, yes I can see it all now! I may have to shop for the complete outfit. So here it is, doggy button and all!

So that's my story for the week so far. Time for tea and watch the Canucks. Have a great night!

Shoes, shoes, and more shoes!

Ok, I know they are a lot of women out there that have more shoes than I do but seriously, unless you build a cupboard just for shoes, what are you suppose to do with them all? I did have "many" stored in a rubbermaid container because the heels are just sooooo darn high, I can't wear them anymore. But I still love them, so I can't part with them. They are stored in the bottom blue storage container.

I started looking around to see what I could store them in because they were everywhere, downstairs, upstairs, in this closet, in that closet, you name it, I could put a finger on a pair of shoes just about anywhere anytime. It's really quite amazing just how many pairs of shoes are out there that you really need to have! I like to have a pair in every color, but with my "foot" problem I can really only wear a few styles at the moment. But I am hoping that eventually that will change. Because frankly, I want to be "Imelda Marcos" in my next life. I mean really, is 5400 pairs of shoes too many? Right, I thought not. I don't think flip flops should be counted in the shoe category, same with sandals, they are only half shoes really. Because you can never have too many of these puppies.
These are only 3 of the 6 pairs.(For now)

So I went shopping the other day like I said and looked everywhere for storage solutions. Since I don't have one of those fancy California closet systems and doubt I will get one, I had to find an easier solution to the mess. So this is what I found. I also spent some time polishing and sprucing them up, and I stuffed my boots like you are suppose too with newspaper or magazines so they will retain their shape. Impressive right! I thought so!

Now I really need to get a handle on this shoe addiction.....there must be a program for that too. Don't you think? But in the meantime..... I am looking for a pink pair, if you happen to see some, let me know ASAP!

C'est Fini!

The little sweater is completed, and I love it. Soooo cute! I think I will have to make another for myself, for the day that I too, have a wee granddaughter! I will have to include it in my list of things to be passed on to my children. You know just in case hell freezes over before the wee babe arrives!

Today I ran around town because I was on a mission to get organized in my closet. I have a slight addiction but apparently according to Denise, it's not a problem! Just a case of not a big enough closet space. Who would have thought? So now I know that would be the reason. Anyway, you will have to wait until tomorrow.

I talked to the girls tonight they are off to Chiang Mai in Thailand today, which is tomorrow over there. Then about a half hour ago Daniel called and he is well and liking Manitoba. He says it's really windy. I told him that's how I got my name! So I am off to finish watching the Canucks, and drink my tea. Goodnight!

Knit till you drop!

I'm sorry for being so far behind this week, but I have been busy. You remember that my girlfriend has a new granddaughter so I decided to knit a little sweater, so my evenings have been full on knit, knit ,knit! But I finished it this morning, and I just have the finishing touches to add, but you get the idea.

So when I am totally finished, it will look fairly similar to this one but different!

I'll be back later...have a great day!

Climbing the Cutbanks

This is where the day began........

What a glorious day it was today! A mite chilly but the sun shone all day. The grass is really starting to "greenup". I was out and about early this morning as I have some crazy girlfriends. They wanted me to come with them to climb the "cut banks" but my better judgment and Trish's "threat to kill" me if I did, held me back and standing on the sidelines. So.....instead.......I took the photos! It was actually alot of fun and made the girls feel like they were running a race and they were winning!
There were 6 ladies and 4 little ladies. Heading up the hill!

Then here they come down the hill!

You can imagine the state of their shoes and feet. This all in the name of fitness. This would be my friends Denise and Trish. And the others I am not sure of their names, friends of Denise's. Denise's two daughters Kennedy,Sydney, and two other girls, were sure troopers to be doing this with their moms so early on a Sunday morning!

The six dirty ladies!

And I'm sorrry to report the photos of the little ladies did not turn out and I have no idea why. So sorry girls:(Then they had to run back to where they had parked their vehicles. So of course, I drove ahead and waited for them to come up the road. What a group, they had so much fun! But I know they will feel the "burn" tomorrow.

Now for some coffee, food and showers. Yes! In that order! This is just how beautiful it was down by the river.

So what did you do for excitement today?

New addition

My girlfriend Vicki, who I have known for 20 years, hard to believe became a Gramma yesterday at 4:29am. Her son Kiel and Sheila had a baby girl, her name is Kendra Ann. Her arrival is a very happy event for this family and I couldn't be more thrilled for them! Kiel is a long time friend of Kaits, and I have watched Vicki's kids grow up from our Salmon Valley days together. It's really hard to believe that our kids are having kids. Well......her kids are, mine will make me wait till I am 100, to make me a grandmother but I guess that's OK too. In the meantime, I get to enjoy and spoil other peoples grandchildren.

I am going to make a cross stitch announcement this weekend. I have something in mind and I'm pretty sure I have all the materials I need. Good thing since our fabric stores are non-existent!
Saturday, Trish, Denise and I are going to a 3 hour Yoga for runners. Should be interesting to say the least. My foot is starting to feel much, much better. Crossing my fingers by the end of the week I will be able to try a few kms. I will still be swimming to be on the safe side because I do not want to be hurt for the summer again.
I had to buy a new swim suit yesterday because when I got out of the pool something had gone terribly wrong.....not a good thing when the chlorine eats your suit. I was not a happy camper. It was suppose to be chlorine proof, good thing they will take it back. Now I have a flashy navy/purple one, I wonder if I will be able to swim better and faster.....doubtful!

The Happy Feet Story

Today we were feeling a little silly. I have a friend at work Rene, she likes shoes. I like shoes. I also have another friend Sandra, she really likes shoes. Can you see a pattern here? Well of course you can, we are ladies who like shoes. Not very practical shoes, sometimes Princess shoes, comfy shoes, athletic shoes, you name them and we have them.

But we have a problem. Well not exactly "we" I mean "me". Rene is not a runner, Sandra and I are runners. If you know anything at all about runners, they have problems at times with their feet. Then there are the Princesses who have feet problems because of the shoes they wear. Heeheeee....

At the moment, I'm not the only one with "Unhappy Feet". The Princess does too. Gee, ya think? Only after hours mind you of shopping in these puppies! Silly Girl. Now I am the practical one with the good old reliable runners and orthodics. Isn't that bizarre?

I am really trying hard to wear proper footwear and let them heal. But when someone comes along with these beauties I am soooooo envious. I have many pairs of these shoes and can I wear them? Will I ever be able to wear them again? I guess..... if I give up running the answer would be "yes". but that would be the unfortunate part, I'm not giving in just yet. So this is my blog on "Happy feet" vs "Not So Happy Feet". So today we had a little fun with it at lunch. How was your day?

Happy Easter!

I think I will be glad when the weekend is over. Way toooooo much eating.......And then with not running, I will probably weigh a ton by Tuesday! Well maybe not quite that much but it feels darns close. Today we had a really quiet day around here. Just the three of us. We had steak for dinner, and just lazed around.

Althou, Glenn did get the lawns raked and I am afraid our composter is history after the bear decided to tackle it last fall. There's no hope to put it back together. I went out for a bit to pick up a few things for Daniel before he flies out tomorrow morning....it will be a long while before we see him again and that makes me sad. It's a good thing we have Internet and texting in this day and age. A mother is never far from her chicks. So I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend. And the Easter bunny treated you to lots of chocolate.

Cleaning Up

I finally found a few minutes when it wasn't snowing, hailing, or raining to get out and "fluff" my flower beds and take out the winter kill. It was quite lovely the evening I was out there and when you start raking and picking weeds it doesn't take long to warm up. Bits and pieces of plants are starting to poke their sprouts through the cold earth. I put out my new solar lights. They are quite cute and really bright at night. The flowers beds are very boring at this point but at least they are ready for planting. Thanks Susan.

Then the weekend began, of course the highlight started on Thursday when my son came home for the weekend. Granted I haven't seen a lot of him but would you like to hang out with your parents or go see your friends. That's a no brainer! But I have had glimpses of him. He has gained weight, filled out, and put on muscle. I have an example of that also. Too funny.

So I went to Home Depot to look for garden doors and try to figure out which style I would like to go with. Darn kids! Oh well, they were old, ugly and hard as the dickens to open, so it was time.

Then we had a dinner for Babe, it was her birthday. Today that is, and this was yesterday. Lots of turkey and cake were eaten. I thought she would like the mushroom solar lights for her garden too. Happy Birthday Leanne. Hope you had a wonderful day.

Thursday, April 1, 2010

I am so far behind I think I'm in first place. My son is coming home this morning in an hour and I have to pick him up and what am I doing? Typing....oh well won't take me long. This will be short and sweet. A big weekend of cooking and visiting is in store. We are having our turkey dinner tomorrow on Good Friday, so that we can have turkey sandwiches the rest of the weekend. I have a lot to do tonight but that's fine, and I must remember to take the turkey out of the freezer!

Spring is coming but this week has been very cool and the wind makes it colder. My running days have come to a halt as I tried to go yesterday but it was agony so I will just be water running for a few weeks. Poor Trish, I feel bad but like she said I need to be better by the summer or when the good weather comes. So I will bite the bullet and just go to the pool. But I am not a happy camper believe you me! Getting old really does not pay off especially when you find something you really love to do and it's healthy and you're doing it all for the right reasons.....did someone say life is not fair....any way I am looking forward to having Daniel home, even if it is only for a few days, I don't know when we will see him again so each moment has to be appreciated. The girls are on their way to Hanoi, in North Vietnam. They are loving Vietnam, lots of history and the country is beautiful. They say the food is really good, their only complaint are the "cyclo" renters.....they are always chasing you around wanting you to rent a bike from them! I think Kait has snapped a few times! Too funny. She doesn't do well with someone pestering her...Oh well must get on here. Hope you have a fantastic day!
