Last day of March

Holy guacamole! Where in the world does the time go? I know the last few weeks have just flown by and I'm not liking that too much. We just finished our Spring Break vacation and back to work.....but it doesn't seem like there was much of a vacation. I'm thinking I need to vacate again soon. I know I am busy but phew am I tired...........tomorrow is a sleep in day and I am a happy girl! We've been running and swimming all week and Saturday is our long run day so I am in dire need of some zzzzzzzzzzzzz's. Must be the change of weather and time change all catching up on me.

I'm going for a hair cut today. And I am hoping I am brave enough to just whack it all off. I think it will be a whole lot easier and make the mornings go a lot faster. Not to mention the pool and the beach.

My running partner is going to Cabo for a week so I will either take a week off or find someone to tag along with. I am sure Kelly is still training for Boston and should be tapering by now. I don't want to over do it but I then, I don't want to sit around on my laurels all week either.

I saw this little cuties hat and fabric rosettes and thought mmmmm might be my next project......there are a few on the go at the moment and I am going to busy this weekend doing a little sewing. So stay tuned............have a great day!

Monday morning coming down..............

I don't know about you ...but are they shortening the weekends? I don't seem to have enough time to get everything done. I think I was a little out of sorts all weekend, we ran on Saturday morning and it was all I could do to finish the hour and crawl back home. I seem to be having some eating issues and some foods are just about killing me. Therefore, my running is suffering big time!. But my sitting around crocheting has hit an all time high! I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. My friend Debbie and I are thinking we will go into the University's Craft Fair this fall, so I have been making up an array of hats, Kobo cases, scarves, etc. I am trying to use up all my little half balls of yarn before I get anymore yarn.....oops well maybe that might happen. There was a sale at Michaels on Saturday and I had to return some other yarn I had bought and the color wasn't right so I picked up a  few new colors, and I got a few packages of fimo to make some original type buttons.....So basically the weekend is over and I have many hats made, we ran this morning because we are on a mission this week before Trish leaves for holidays.....Oh dear.................I hope things get better.....need some new foods to test......

There were four deer that hung out all weekend. Our hill is just about bare of snow so they were very busy nibbling away at the underbrush and whatever else little deers eat. Well must run and get off to work........have a wonderful day!

I'm Came Back!

Well I came back! Not because I wanted too but it was time to let my girls get on with their week. I went down to visit them on Saturday and stayed till Wednesday. There was a lot of shopping and a lot of eating. It was nice to get away from the land of ice and snow but of course the first day I was there, what did it do? SNOW! And I don't mean just a few flakes, we are talking a good 4 inches of thick, heavy, wet snow. OMG! I am so done with winter. So of course I had to do a little "Sprinter" shopping. So the little treats I picked up should get me through till Spring actually arrives. Or maybe "Sprummer?"

New Spring flats in coral pink!

Pier One Apron hanger

New Mrs. Cleaver Aprons

Theeeeee cutest darn yo-yo flowers

A little more yarn to feed my addiction

Absolutely theeee most beautiful yarn to make ruffle scarves

New Lulu Groove Run Shorts

Funky Hat

And last but not least my other addiction -
Scarves- for Spring!
Now seriously, I need to do some Spring cleaning with the days I have left of Spring Break but with my new yarn it may be hard to do dust bunnies and Spanish lace (spider webs) but I will find time to get it all done. Trish and I were back on the road this morning and it was a tough one today. We slugged out 9km. but it wasn't pretty today. Better luck on Saturday. In the meantime, the World Women's Curling is on TSN so I need to shake this bootie and get some things done. Have a great day!

Happy St. Paddy's Day!

And that's all I have to say today. May the luck of the Irish be with you, which I find quite funny, as living on an island in the North Atlantic, cooler temperatures, rain, a diet of stew and potatoes, but great woolen sweaters and cute little leprechauns, so I guess it all balances out. Of course the green beer must be a plus! Hope everyone has a great day.

I really need to retire.............

I know I keep saying this but I don't ever seem to follow through with the threat! I've been perusing through a few of my favourite blogging girlfriends and realize that there is just so much fun going on that I am missing. And it's just not fair!!!!! Spring is in the air! NO! Really! I do not jest! Yesterday was the first day you could really feel the warmth of the sun penetrating through the layers of clothing! I mean seriously it is the middle of March.......there should be some grass poking through SOMEWHERE??????

So I am going to take a short road trip to see my girls on the weekend and hopefully get in some shopping and wear some Spring clothes for a few days and not have to worry about stepping in 2 foot deep puddles....... I did a mass baking and cooking on the weekend and I still have a few more things to bake to take down to them.....ya ya I know, they are spoiled. But that's OK they love me and I love them.......so what's the big deal they gotta eat too!

I have been very busy crocheting a few more hats, (gee.... ya think:))))) there's someones birthday coming up and I thought it would be a cute combination, so you will just have to wait to see this duo. Otherwise it will spoil the surprise. But firstly, I want to get my Spring wreath out the front door and encourage that rabbit along......there's not much chance I will be hanging eggs in any tree for a few weeks so that will have to wait.

So I wonder which one it will be.....I know I have a few to choose from.........................

Could you just imagine this hanging around with all that chocolate? Ha! It would be dessicated before you could say "Peter Rabbit"!!!! No, I am thinking something with some flowers and eggs, so I better get a move on. Also I need to get this morning show on the air. Work? What a nasty word at this time of the morning......jeez. Well you all have a wonderful day! Happy crafting! I'll be thinking of you!

Whoop, whoop it's the weekend again!

I love the weekends. They are my favourite days of the week. As soon as Friday afternoon hits, my creative brain kicks into high gear. So with a quick stop into Zellers I picked up some wool, ya ya..... I need more wool.....besides I want to try something different this weekend. Crocheted flowers that my friend Debbie makes a be-jillion of in her spare time.  They are super cute and I thought they would make great embellishments for all the hats I have been making. Anyway that's just one of the things I have planned. Our daughter Kait is coming up tomorrow partly for my birthday that was yesterday and partly just because she needs some hometime. So I will bake up a storm for her to take back for herself and BF and her sister. I had the most perfect day yesterday. Birthdays are fun no matter what age you turn and I am thankful for all my good friends, family and my good health. All thou after giving blood yesterday, I was feeling a little tuckered so I must remember to bulk up on fluids and good food this weekend. Or else my running will suck the life right out of me this weekend.

I mentioned that I had made a few more hats and here they are.....and there will be quite a few more after the weekend with the recent purchase of 4 balls of yarn. I think I am turning into a Yarnaholic, and it's going to take more than a 12 step program to cure me! I'll blame it on Debbie, it's her fault.

Well have a great weekend and I hope you have plenty of blue skies and sunshine. And you don't live anywhere near the ocean and have cause for concerns about tsunamis. Have a wonderful day!

Sometimes I do declare.....

I really need to have lessons in setting up templates and backgrounds.....................I'm not a computer whiz and I will gladly admit that it totally frustrates the "heck" out of me!!.............but I shall persevere and muddle on. Another beautiful day in the frozen north. NOT! It started out quite nice and we actually got to run on "pavement"! What a treat that was for a change. But it did not last.  I think it snowed for a few hours today, and it was a wet, heavy snowfall. So I am positive it means it's finally going to warm up. A girl can only dream......

So Steve and I have a running battle each time I try to sit and crochet or knit. He loves a ball of wool, and a pattern to curl up on. He is a smart little guy but irritating beyond words. I know his little ears perk up the minute he hears paper and immediately comes a running. So of course I couldn't resist.........he's just so darn cute!

He's thinking, "I don't know what your problem is.  I am purrrrrectly capable of figuring out how to make this hat!"

Well, he did help me make three new hats, so I guess it's not tooo bad that he wants to help. I will be put them up another day. Have a good evening.  I'm done like dinner for today!

International Women's Day

Hats off to all the creative women of my blogging world! It's been a long haul since the day we got the vote to be heard as force to be reckoned with. I am sure there are men out there who wish we were still in out kitchens, wearing aprons, and baking cookies, hey wait a minute, I love being there. But by my choice! I am actually, very much a homebody, it's just unfortunate we don't get paid a wage to be SAHM, we certainly are worth more than they could ever pay. I read somewhere that if a SAHM was paid the equivalent to her counterparts who go outside the home to work, our annual income would be well over a $100,000.00 a year. Without a doubt. I want a raise! Anyway, lets jump off the soap box and get back to the matters at hand. Running, and crafting..... neither of which is happening these days. Another balmy -20C morning but they say it's going to turn tomorrow. I 'll believe when I feel it. I am looking forward to walking out the doors not feeling like the Michelin Man. With thoughts of Spring...............................

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome . Charlotte Bronte

Bicycling has done more to emancipate women than any one thing in the world. It gives her a feeling of self-reliance and independence the moment she takes her seat; and away she goes, the picture of untrammelled womanhood.

Salute to the Mothers of the World who work and sail the seas of life.

A woman is the epitome of tenderness, care, and wisdom. On this Women's Day, wish your women friends great happiness with these Women's Day quotes. Have a wonderful time with your gal pals, and enjoy the company of your women friends. And while you are at it, spare a thought for unfortunate women, who live in tyrannical societies. Have a great day my friends!

A Perfectly Good Reason.................

There's a perfectly good reason why I am writing this blog post at 5:00 am on a Monday morning. You see our plan was to run this morning from my house to the bridge, a respectable 10km but as it happens this morning, much to my surprise when I checked the weather channel it was -22C, okay wimp me out! I admit, but you need to understand we live by the river and it's probably a few degrees colder soooooooooooooooo....................we are going to the pool at 6 instead. Well enough said, we did get in a run on Saturday morning, not a pleasant experience with a fresh snowfall of 6-7 inches. But we did about an hour and half and we were still speaking when we finished. Hahahaha! No! Really! Trish was not smiling! It's similar to running on the beach except a lot colder......so I was really hoping that the weatherman would bring us some warmer temps but apparently its just not today. Anyway.....how was your weekend? After our run on Saturday, and a dentist appointment I went into weekend hibernation mode, and set up shop in my kitchen, sewing, crocheting, and baking. The snow is much prettier looking outside from a nice cozeee house.

I made up a fabric case for all my knitting needles. I hate plastic cases so hence all these new fabric covers. My cases were all getting old, I won't admit how old but they were starting to crack and fall apart. Similar to me, I think......Ah enough said. As I have said before I have a major problem with following patterns so there is a lot of improvising. But they work and turn out just lovely. At least I think  so.

Iron-on stenciled number marking sizes of needles
clever..........

Separate pockets and numbers to mark each needle has a home :*)

Rolled Knitting Needle Case

Antique Button holding ties in place.
Also to mention no fabric was bought to make this and it took a total of a few hours between curling ends and a few times I admit, I had to rip out stitches and re-think the pattern......I just think I need more practise making up patterns. I am really quite handy, it's just when the ADHD and OCD get in my way.
I love the weekends...........when I get to hibernate and spend my time doing crafty things. I made the Hubs gooey Cinnamon buns with cream cheese frosting yesterday also. And no I am not touching those babies, there's a bikini I need to wear in a month. Yikes! Get a move on with those crunches! Have a great day!

TGIF! Weekend here we come!

I don't really have time to be blogging this morning as I need to be at work for a conference in an hour and a half but...... oh what the heck! There's a few things I need to say and this and that and if I don't well then I will forget what they were. I spent the majority of the week learning how to use my Kobo e reader. Can I just say they are the next best thing to sliced bread! OMG! I can actually read comfortably and that heavy book in book does not hit me in the face when my arms give out! So needless to say I am making little cases for them, cause I need to be able to change it up. And who knows maybe I will try and sell a few one day. I made a crochet needle case that I am quite happy with. Although the sewing machine has been driving me a little over the edge because of the tension but I am working on it. So this weekend I hope to get one made for all my knitting needles.

I couldn't resist these little babies!

Finished case all rolled up and hooks in one place.
Must run and get this show on the road. Have a great Friday! And a wonderful weekend creating and doing fun stuff! The weather I think is changing for the good! Yipee!!!!

March comes in like a lion................

Well I hope it holds true to that saying, cause that will mean it goes out like a lamb. Here's hoping, but at the moment it doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon. All this week it will be -30 with the windchill so that means "ME" reaaallllllllly cranky!  Tomorrow Trish and I will be going to the pool, I know, I know but what's a girl to do?

I picked up my new e-reader from the  mail yesterday and after much todoo......I figured out how to start it and download some books. My next feat will be figuring out how to get books from the library. Technically savvy I am not. This brain of mine does not accept change or technology quite so easily. But I will persevere. I will figure it out if it kills me. But at least I have a pretty case to carry it in! I have another I'd like to try making so possible this weekend.

I forgot to tell you I finally finished making my paint chip mosaic, I like it but now I need to get it up on the wall. So here it is. I made a few boo boos but only I know where and why. But next time I make one, I will know the process.

It measures 17 inches by 50 approximately so it will fit nicely on the wall I have planned for it.
That's about it for today, colder than the hub tails of the arctic and expected to last through the week. I am sooooooo going to Mexico. Just need the means to get there. Must check my lottery ticket!
