Oh the pain of it all..........

Between running and crocheting there are  parts of my anatomy that are paining me. More so the wrists from marathon crocheting....oh my I got on a kick this past weekend, no thanks to Debbie I might add.....I came across a photo of a photography prop hat for newborns, and they are just SO darn cute!  I had to make four of them.....I know........ excessive....... but what a great way to use up leftover yarn...... now I need to find a photographer that does newborn shots. I also bought a pattern for a Newborn Cocoon/ Pod, now these are super cute, and for photos sessions only! Not to be used on a daily basis. The babies look just adorable curled up in these.  I love these little hats and they just whip up so fast they are fun. And the girlier the better. I did make a few blue ones for little boys, and they are sweet.......

Too Cute for words!
As well as newborn  hats, I did make a few older children hats, just working up a girly aviator and boy earflap hat.....

Well as much as I'd like to sit and crochet....... I have a exterior wall of our house that is in dyer need of a paint job and I need to get organized and go get paint and scaffolding. It's a good thing heights don't bother me......What are you up to today? Whatever it is....... I hope you have a good one.

We had an amazing week of running but I do have to admit my knee was feeling the stress.....problem being too fast. But the Okanagan Marathon is in 6 weeks, and even though I am only doing the half. I want to be able to finish with a respectable time. And my training has been going well so i don't want to get hurt now. So I just have to slow down.

Gave myself a real scare today.....

I don't know how many of you out there have one of those days when you feel like you're losing your mind. Maybe it's low blood sugar maybe it's just too many things rolling around in this old head of mine.....but today I took off for town and wanted to pick up a few things to make a laundry room project. But before I left I decided to drive downtown and scope out the furniture store..... cause I'm on the hunt for a occasional chair for the family room. Anyway...............there I was driving downtown................and do you think I could remember where I was heading? Freaked me right out! I was thinking the whole time all right I know I need to turn here eventually cause I'm going to run out of road........what a ding-dong! I was coming up to the last set of lights and "Ding!" on went the lightbulb! Thanks goodness. I could honestly feel my heart banging and the brain cells clicking as fast as they could go. I really think I must have needed some chocolate or something. Loopy! But it's all good. Actually found a chair I really like.....now to decide on fabric. That could be a problem.........I'm a little wild...............and well...... I don't do boring............terrible dilemma............but it's also got to be something that won't looked dated in a few years.....oh dear me.....will have to pause and consider this one over night.

Wish me luck............shall I go neutral or not? Guess I better get the chow train on the go. Have a great night!

Wasting a Wednesday..............

Well not really wasting it......I am stranded at home for the better part of the day as the Hubs took my car and his is in getting some brakes. Pffffff! Who needs brakes! Then to top it off this morning I jump in the truck and back out of the driveway and think "what the heck?" Truck is seriously leaning right..............Yup!! You guessed it "flat tire" flatter than a pancake. So I quickly text Trish cause she's one her way to meet me half way across town......then I go back in and inform the Hubs why exactly his truck was pulling right on his way home last night...............so Trish finally gets my message and she comes back to my house and we took off for a quick 6km and surprisingly no rain! How unbelievable is that!!!! So tow truck comes at 7am and puts some air in the tire and I hurriedly get to the repair shop and drop it off. Probably some huge spike imbedded in it. So they drive me home and so I thought mmmmm.....time to clean oout some cupboards. You know its time when you try to jam something in the lazy susan and it comes back out at you! So when in doubt " throw it out"! It's seriously clean now. Then I thought the pantry is in dyer straights so out with the old and in with the new. Much better. Oh what I wouldn't do for a new kitchen..............So I am puttering around and cleaning this and that, and there is a bright sunny glare coming through the windows......I may have to go investigate....... in the meantime...............................Steve would like a word with you.....................

Hey keep the noise down!
Isn't he cute! and he's smiling! Silly guy!

New varigated togue with a couple of wooden buttons, wear them in the front,

Gotta run..................... things to clean and things to schuck! Have an exciting day! Be wild!

Finally getting my crafting on.........

I think I am on the mend...............yes Monday turned into a very productive day. I even surprised myself! Next time I mention it's time to go back to work.....would you just slap me! I must have scared myself. Because yesterday morning Trish a.k.a  "Miss Sugar Cube" was going back to bed after looking outside and seeing all the rain. So I had an early start on the day. Himself went to work. Then my crafting MoJo came back in full force.

We ran this morning and went a little longer than normal just to make up for all the rainy days we missed. So it's all good.

I made a few things over the weekend, finished the Bebe' Blanket, sooooo adorable! Lovvvve the blue and brown combination, next is a pink and brown one, cause you just never know! Met up with Debbie and we hit Michaels pretty hard on Sunday morning, or did they hit me pretty hard? Anyway, many balls of yarn......oh I'm bad! I made a wee little blue and brown hat, a smashing red beret, a multicolored toque, a Kobo purse, two pin cushions, and a puff ball Hot Pink scarf! Yes..... it was an all out day of crocheting and crafting. The fingers were a tad sore and the shoulders are in dyer need of a massage! It rained, it poured, it thundered, there was lightning, it was a heck of a day! Perfect day to stay home and that's just what I did.

I think it will fit a very small newborn!

Does he not just look sooooo impressed!

I think it suits me more than Steve

So that was my rainy day Monday. Good things do happen when the weather keeps you indoors! And I wasn't even grumpy for missing a few days of running. But hopefully the weather holds for the next few morning and we can get back on schedule, or there's going to be some hurting going on.......enjoy the rest of your day.......and stayed tuned for the next projects in the works! Only two weeks left! Yikes!!!!!

Mmmmmm....... I know I should do something.........

Well frankly I am not in the mood to do anything.............I think it is time to go back to work. I know what a terrible thing to say. I'm over summer and want to get back into a routine. Routines and I work well together. When I have a schedule, I will accomplish far more than I am today. The Hubs is working all weekend and of course, it is sunny and hot today. I mowed the lawns yesterday and the weed whacker is all fixed so it works like a "gem". Funny how much better things work when you have all the right pieces! So I think it's time I got outside and did something more productive than sitting watching design shows and crocheting! But the baby blanket is coming right along. I think having a lazy day is probably good for the soul once in a while.

That's is for today, hope you're day is going more productively than mine. Have a great weekend.

Catching up on the week.....

Arrived back home late yesterday with a car full of treasures. It's such a long drive by yourself to Vancouver, and since I don't like listening to music all that much, CBC starts to wear on a person. But I made good time going down on Monday , had a really nice visit with Aunt Ev and some shopping before calling it quits for the day. It was one of those visits that tugged at your heart strings and made me quite teary on Monday night when I was sitting in her house without her.....not a good feeling. So, on Tuesday morning I was up early and hit a few stores before going over to the home, I bought myself a "new" running jacket from the Running Room, thought I deserved a new color for the fall/winter running season. Burnt orange, or red whatever you prefer. Really pretty, a real hit with all the ladies at the home!

Spent the day with Aunt Ev and then had to do a few things in the afternoon, then back to the home with Timbits and coffee for a snack. We spent a few hours chatting and talking about Ireland and then left while she had dinner. Once I got my car packed up I went back to the home for the evening and we chatted outside on the deck till it cooled off and I took her to her room and we had another talk till visiting hours were over and the staff was getting everyone ready for bed. It was a very quick trip but a good one. I hope I can get down there again before the winter sets in. But I don't think it is far off!

The drive back home was nice and sunny until I hit the half way point and then it was off and on miserable. Welcome back to the north! But it is suppose to be nice this weekend. I stopped off in Quesnel and went into Fabricland, yooo whoooo!!!!! Fabric and all on sale! Then with a membership ........almost FREE!. More aprons to come.

I have a few new cabinets for storage....one will be a sewing chest and the other one...... I am still thinking on.
Auntie Ev and Me, I hope I'm in this good of shape when I'm 95

An old Teapot, memories...............of Auntie Ev and tea

Storage cabinet, that weighs a ton, solid wood.....mmmmmm what to put in it?

Auntie Ev got this cabinet from Singer when she bought her sewing machine
so I think I will use it to put odds & ends, threads and such in......

From the Cozy Home Decor Store in Abbotsford, just awesome!
Well that has been my three days to start the week. Trish and I ran 8km this morning and boy was it chilly! Fall is definitely in the air. So the Fall decor is coming out next week. Might as well not fight it.
Enjoy your day!

Soggy Sunday

Yes, it is raining once again. Well if that week was summer, it's over. I'm with Liz over a Savvy Seasons getting ready for Fall, I think I am going to start capturing the moment too. Trish and I ran this morning between showers and we accomplished a remarkable 14km. We really think running a few back to back days has done our running wonders. So we plan to keep this up till October and the half marathon. Although I don't think she is going to go........ Vegas is calling her name!

But that's okay, she will keep me company training in the meantime. So I will miss a few days this week but next Sunday, we are going for 16km. Hydrate, hydrate all this week. What a difference it makes. Yikes! Who woulda thunk!

Doing a little baking for Himself today and I have to quickly head out here to pick up a few things for lunches. I have been making a list of some of the stores I need to hit at the coast including Fabricland and Creekside Home Decor, Home Sense/Winners, etc. It will be my only excursion south this year so I might as well make the best of it!

I took a few shots of my favourite flowering bushes that happened to look very pretty the other day. Well, the Cinnamon buns are in the oven, and smelling sooooo delish!

I just finished reading "The Help" what an awesome book, can't wait to see the movie. Since I am not from the Southern States and have never known this lifestyle, I find it too big of a subject to comment on it, other than it will make you cry, it will make you laugh, and it will give you a whole new respect for the lives which the black women of the south had to endure. I thoroughly enjoyed it and wouldn't have minded if there were more pages. Oh my goodness the sun has come out. Gotta run......have a great day!

Needing more hours in a day....................

Does everyone have this problem? I have so many things I want to do or start and just never seem to have enough hours in the day. Then something will come along and the next thing I know I am totally entralled and end up postponing something else. Maybe I just need to focus on one or two things a day and not a dozen! Now that would be a novel idea. So here it is Saturday and I am taking a quick trip to see my Aunt Ev but with diabetic cat and husband busy with work, it's going to be a rush. The baby blanket is coming along and it is soooo cute. I think I will make another one this winter and add it too the future grandchild basket. The weather has turned into Fall already.......fog in the mornings, cooler temps.....oh dear I am so not ready for winter.....I guess the upside would be more time to knit or crochet and making a few more aprons.... but in the meantime I've been doing a ton of baking this week for my friend next door....I love baking! Just as long as I'm not eating it......

This was in the Japanese Gardens at the National Irish Stud Farm,
Path of Life was far more interesting

A wee birdie

I can't say for sure where this was......but the lighting and the exposure blew me away!
Sometimes things just happen and they turn out amazing.

I'm bad........

Well there went another week of my life zoooooooooooooooom! Guess I won't be getting that one back anytime soon. I crocheted up a storm last week and ran like a rabbit for the most part, but mainly I read my book and stayed in the house as my feet were getting webbed and frankly it was starting to get me down. Our son left and went back to his base, so when he leaves it usually takes me a few days to come around.....doesn't get any easier as they get older. Oh well c'est le vie....... The weather became very summer like on Sunday, so we took a drive out to our good friends Fred and Cindy's cabin at the lake and sat around enjoying some much needed sunshine. I started making a baby blanket for their daughter, who is due in October. Quite exciting! First grandbaby and all! Blue and brown is the theme of the babies room as we don't know the gender of the little gaffer or gaffette yet. This week daughter number 2 came home for a few days with her significant other so that was a nice break. Trish and I have run 3 days in a row this week, but unfortunately will have to miss tomorrow, unless I can fit it in later in the day. Then we will get back at the training on Friday. Till then......we will have no idle hands or feet.....have a good evening, it's tea time.

New Sandals
Actually not too new but new to my feet since I haven't been able to wear them for three years since I bought them because of my plantar fasciitis but we seem to be doing fine.

A few things I've been doing..............

I thought I was done with making aprons but they are just so darn cute, I couldn't resist making a half apron from leftover drop cloth fabric. I think I got a little carried away with the gathers, because it kind of looks like a skirt! Put on a pair of heels and you're all set! I still want to put a few flowers on it, cause I'm sure it's calling for it. I made my cousin a really cute purple polka dot and floral apron and sent it to her today......and darn if I didn't forget to take a picture of it. So you will just have to take my word on it. I tried a few times to take it with one of my cameras but for some unknown reason I was having problems downloading the photos from the camera to the computer.  Today I was thinking I was over sewing but I had some time to spare, so I visited our one and only fabric store and well...............I couldn't help myself, I grab some of the clearance fabric, enough to make a couple of aprons. But for now I will put it away. A little gardening this afternoon, a run this morning, feels like nap time. Wish I was a napper, haven't been sleeping well at night......guess my brain is too busy.

Quickie Crocheted Cowl

Very large crocheted cowl/shawl
When I'm on a roll you don't want to get in the way. You could get crocheted or sewed into something. My son has gone back to base so it's pretty quiet again around here but Kait will be home after the weekend for a few days. Himself thought we should get a dog to liven up the place! I think not.......we already have Diabetic Cat to tie us down now......and honestly...... I don't need another job. Now where did I put that wool.....................see ya later!
